Ascension to the Throne

His Holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Sadananda Saraswati Ji is the current and reigning spiritual pontiff (Peethadheeshwar) of the Dwarka Sharada Peetham, one of the four cardinal monastic establishments (Chaturamnaya Peethams) founded by Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya. He was appointed to this exalted position in September 2022, following the Mahasamadhi (passing) of his predecessor, the revered Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopananda Saraswati Ji, who uniquely held the leadership of both the Dwarka and the Jyotir Math Peethams.

A Legacy of Stewardship

Prior to his ascension, he was widely known and respected as Dandi Swami Sadananda Saraswati, a title denoting his high standing in the order of Sannyasis. For many years, he served as the closest disciple and the trusted "second-in-command" to his Guru, Swami Swaroopananda Saraswati Ji. In this capacity, he played an instrumental role in assisting with the extensive spiritual and administrative responsibilities of the Peetham, gaining profound experience and deep insight into the traditions and duties of a Jagadguru.

As the Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Dwarka Sharada Peetham, Swami Sadananda Saraswati Ji now carries the eternal legacy of his Guru.
